Topic: [Solved]D2CS Error: D2GS connection from invalid IP address....

Hello,

I had to start over... I'm so frustrated. So frustrated. The PC that I had put a closed server on the other day crashed... It's done for. The closed server lasted about an hour before the PC just died. It was old... I hadn't even had time to backup my configuration files or anything. All gone.

I had to put the server on a whole new PC and I am trying to recreate everything the same as it was when it was working. The only record I had was the conf files I posted in my last topic, so I used those. Now I have a new issue, though. I get an error on the D2CS log that says Bnetd rejected the login attempt when I try to log into the closed realm.

To recap:
I have set up PvPGN and D2gs on a Windows 7 64-bit PC. I can connect and create games in Open Bnet. But when I try to connect to the closed realm, I get some kind of "You cannot connect to the realm" error message and something about making sure port 6112 is open. Then D2CS log says Bnetd rejected the log in attempt somehow.

I'll post my conf files here and my debug logs as attached files. I'll attach the log files later today. Thank you for any help.

I uninstalled everything and did a fresh reinstall of PvPGN and D2GS. Now everything is working. My closed server is running as intended. I have a short list of tips I'd like to post here if for no other reason than to have a record for my own future reference...

*  ONLY the 'conf' files in the PvPGN directory need editing! No need to edit any 'conf' files in the D2GS directory.

*  DO NOT change the D2GS directory or name of D2GS directory once the D2GS service is installed! Changing the D2GS directory after the D2GS service is installed will cause the D2GS service to go AWOL.

*  Make sure every relevant installation file for both PvPGN and D2GS are set to compatibility mode for Windows XP. (Just for good measure.)

*  Restart the PC intermittently during the install process of PvPGN and D2GS. Somehow it's just good policy.

*  Embody the patience of a fucking Buddhist monk.

I plan to create a somewhat in-depth post outlining my process for the install of both PvPGN and D2GS. As a resource for folks like me that have to be walked through every step as if we have no experience with networking, simple troubleshooting, installing ANYTHING, or otherwise.

Thank you to EVERYONE that has ever contributed to the creation and maintenance of PvPGN and D2GS. You guys are heroes. This shit is as fun as it is challenging for me.
