Topic: [Solved]Hex editing the in-game greetings Diablo II LOD...

Ok, so I opened D2GS.exe with HxD and found the lines of text I wanted to change. I used the same number of characters to replace what I wanted replaced and saved the .exe. I reopened the edited D2GS.exe to check to see if my changes were still there and they were. I put the edited D2GS.exe in my server directory and voila! There were NO changes in-game. It was still the same ol' "No commercial purposes!!" that I wanted to change. Any help please?

Dudes,
I'm an infant to this whole hex editing thing. I tried a different editor and got the same result. My modified D2GS.exe produces no errors, but the in-game greeting (No commercial purpose etc...) remains unchanged after editing the string. For all I know I'm in a parallel universe and I look like a rambling idiot to some of you veterans. I'm so close to where I want to be with this server. I'm just looking for a little customization. I'm operating a tiny D2 LOD server for my kids and nephews on my home PC. Any help with this issue is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Whilst we are on this topic has anybody had a go at removing these messages?

I checked using XVI32 but cannot locate the string.

I checked with Olly too but no joys!
