Topic: PvPGN - Do I need two separate computers?

I've only got access to one PC at the moment, and I'm interested in trying to set up a server for myself and a couple of friends to play together on. Don't really trust Blizzard not to bungle things the way they did with the Warcraft 3 Reforged release, either.

My question is, can I run the PvPGN server inside of a virtual machine, while playing Diablo 2 with my pals on the host machine that the VM is running inside of?

No, you can run it on your host bare metal, docker containers as well as VMs on the same computer.

I'm heartened to hear that! I'm plugging away at it, but I'm not too sure what to do with my current roadblock. I'm following this guide and I'm at the bit where I'm supposed to run the 'Install' batch file. Running as administrator with an added pause command on the end reveals this...

'PvPGNConsole.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
'd2csConsole.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
'd2dbsConsole.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

and I'm not real sure how to go about fixing this and still staying true to the rest of the guide.

This message is given when the batch program can't find those specific executable files. Make sure you are running the batch in the same folder as those executables and/or run it from a CMD or Powershell instead of running directly.
